PORT OF LOS ANGELES WELCOMES THREE ACTIVE NAVY VESSELS TO CELEBRATE ‘NAVY DAYS LA 2015’
Limited Complimentary Tickets Available for Public Ship Tours August 7-9
SAN PEDRO, Calif. — July 24, 2015 — Three active U.S. Navy vessels will be docked at the World Cruise Center on the LA Waterfront and available for public tours Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., as part of “Navy Days LA 2015,” hosted by the Port of Los Angeles.
Tickets may be reserved online; one vessel visit is allowed per guest each day due to the event’s popularity. Visitors are required to show valid government-issued identification and will receive vessel assignments upon arrival. Visiting ships are USS Bunker Hill (CG 52), USS Cape St. George (CG 71), and USS Halsey (DDG 97).
Additional LA Waterfront Activities
In addition to public tours, food and drinks will be available for purchase at the World Cruise Center. The Port will offer free entertainment on Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9, from noon to 5 p.m. at Downtown Harbor, located at 504 S. Harbor Blvd. in San Pedro, including live performances by U.S. Navy band “The Destroyers” on Saturday, from noon to 1 p.m., and Sunday, from noon to 2 p.m. Sightseers will also have the opportunity to tour the official Tall Ships of Los Angeles, twin brigantines Irving and Exy Johnson, and visit the Los Angeles Maritime Museum. Discounted tickets to tour Battleship IOWA are available onboard.
Guests are also invited to enjoy nearby LA Waterfront destinations, including the Cruise Ship Promenade featuring the Gateway Plaza Fanfare Fountain, Ports O’ Call Village, CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles, SS Lane Victory Merchant Marine Museum and Memorial, and a variety of restaurants and art galleries in historic downtown San Pedro – all within walking distance or a short ride aboard the vintage Waterfront Red Car Line.
