The
Beauty of the Port is
more than just the economic impact...
|
|
The Port of Los Angeles recognizes its dual role as
a driver of international business and trustee of public
lands. As such, it is mindful of its responsibility
to the communities in which it operates and has created
a distinctive environment for its customers, visitors
and the community at large.
A neighborhood employer, the Port supports local labor
by securing 275,000 shipping-related jobs for the area
and region. A stable community partner, the Port provides
millions of dollars annually to a variety of local schools,
community programs and nonprofit organizations. The
Port has also undertaken an extensive project to directly
benefit harbor communities: development of the San Pedro
waterfront. These contributions are just some of the
ways the Port of Los Angeles plays a role in helping
to build a better community.
