Have your students ever wondered where their computers, iPods™ or Adidas™ running shoes come from? They are on sale at local stores only after they have arrived here via the international goods movement system.
The Port of Los Angeles would like to invite your fifth and sixth grade classes to join us for a free educational boat tour to demonstrate the dynamics of world trade. There is nothing like the experience of pulling up next to a massive containership as it unloads hundreds of containers, or seeing the world’s largest container facility that covers nearly 500 acres. By the way, that’s more than three times the combined size of Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure.
Our narrated tours will be offered from March through June 2012. Online scheduling is now available. The reservation process is automated and all reservations must be completed through the School Boat Tour Program Reservation Site. Each school must make its own bus transportation arrangements to the Port. Limited bus subsidies are available.
For more than 100 years, the Port of Los Angeles has been making history as the leading economic engine for Southern California and the nation. Last year, 7,000 Los Angeles Unified School District students took part in our free boat tour program. We hope you too will come aboard and learn about your Port!
