The Gateway Plaza Fanfare Fountains are located at 600 N. Harbor Blvd. in San Pedro, at the foot of the Vincent Thomas Bridge. The two fountains together pump 400,000 gallons of treated, recycled water through powerful jets that shoot up to 100 feet in the air, and are synchronized with lights and music, creating a spectacular dancing waters show. These shows typically begin every 30 minutes, depending on the season, and include a wide variety of popular songs, such as Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.”, the theme from “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” “California Girls” by the Beach Boys, and of course, “Fanfare for the Common Man” by American composer Aaron Copland. During the winter, holiday music selections are played.

Boaters will love that the LA Waterfront offers free, open-to-the-public recreational courtesy docks for short-term docking, available daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Downtown Harbor (Berth 85).

The Port of Los Angeles has installed more than a dozen fitness stations at select locations on the LA Waterfront, including Wilmington Waterfront Park, 22nd Street Park, and along the Harbor Boulevard Parkway Promenade in San Pedro to encourage a healthy lifestyle on the LA Waterfront.
