On Saturday, January 9, 2010, the Port of Los Angeles opened the 16-acre 22nd Street Park with a big family picnic-style celebration.  More than 2,000 people joined by Mayor Villaraigosa, Councilwoman Janice Hahn, Harbor Commission Vice President Jerilyn López Mendoza and Harbor Commissioner Joe Radisich to officiallyopen the park with games, activities and a free hot dog lunch.  The park is part of the Port's waterfront development program and is the first new park in San Pedro for years.
