Red Car History

Imagine sitting in a replica turn-of-the-century Pacific Electric Red Car Trolley as you take in the scenes of the picturesque San Pedro Waterfront through the windows. Enjoy this historical and educational experience with our enthusiastic and dedicated Red Car Conductors dressed in period clothing. Hear about the early origins of San Pedro Bay and the changes and progress that have made it into the busiest seaport in the Western Hemisphere.

The Red Car route currently stretches 1.5 miles along Harbor Boulevard with terminals at Swinford Street, 6th Street, Ports O' Call Village and Miner Street.

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Red Cars leave from Miner Street approximately every 40 minutes, beginning at noon. All Red Cars run until 9:30 p.m.

Port staff can arrange to meet your group at any of the four Red Car stations. Additional time slots may also be available. For more information, please send an email to edtours@portla.org.
